Location & History
Once part of Dong Nai Province, Vam Sat found its way into the heart of Ho Chi Minh City in 1978. Unfortunately, during the resistance war against American invaders, the area suffered destruction from bombs and defoliants. However, through the remarkable efforts of a reforestation program launched in 1996, Vam Sat has transformed into a breathtaking world biosphere reserve, boasting a lush mangrove forest.
Salt-Marsh Forest Ecological Tourist Zone
At Vam Sat Tourist Center, you’ll find a plethora of activities that cater to both ecological enthusiasts and recreational seekers. Immerse yourself in the unique ecological system of the mangrove forest, observe the mesmerizing flying foxes at Bat Swamp, and engage in bird-watching. How To Get There
To reach Vam Sat, a scenic three-hour journey by motorbike or car awaits you. Simply follow Nguyen Tat Thanh Street in District 7, cross Binh Khanh Ferry, and continue on the only road to Can Gio Sea for approximately 15km. At the Ly Nhon three-way crossroads, take a right turn, pass Vam Sat Bridge, and turn left at Goc Tre Bridge. You’ll find the tourism center eagerly awaiting your arrival.
Another route involves taking the Hiep Phuoc – Doi Lau Boat, which is suitable for motorbike riders.
For those preferring public transportation, bus number 20 from Ben Thanh Bus Station to Binh Khanh Ferry will take you on an unforgettable journey. After the ferry ride, hop on the Binh Khanh – Can Thanh bus and alight at Dan Xay Bridge. From there, a scenic boat trip will transport you to Vam Sat Station.
For an even more memorable experience, a sailboat now departs from Bach Dang Wharf in District 1, early in the morning, taking you on a picturesque journey to Vam Sat.
