Transport to Phong Nha

Dong Hoi can also be reached by train on the main Hanoi – Ho Chi Minh City railway line. Overnight sleeper buses are available from Hanoi to Phong Nha daily, with a travel time of about 9 hours each way (VND 300,000). Open buses also operate several times a day from nearby cities like Hue (VND 150,000) and Danang (VND 200,000). Bus tickets can usually be purchased at your accommodation or from local travel agents the day before departure.
- Local buses run from Dong Hoi to Phong Nha for as little as VND 35,000 per seat. The ride takes between 45 to 90 minutes, with buses running hourly (except noon) from 5 am to 5 pm. Note that the bus terminals are a few kilometers from the train station and airport. You can reach them by taxi or motorbike taxi.
